These are not new books, but unless stated, they are all in very good condition.

A DAISY FOR DOROTHY - The Love Story of a Family in Wartime, by Pat Reid with an introduction by Leslie Thomas. A hardback book and dustjacket consisting of 24 pages with photographs. The book tells the story of an ordinary couple, George Scragg and Nan Osborne who were from the village of Armitage in Staffordshire. During the Second World War, George Scragg was called up and served with the Scots Guards. During the war the couple wrote to each other almost daily, talking of their hopes and fears and planning for after the war. Their daughter Dorothy was born in 1941. Tragically, just a few days before the end of the war, George was killed in Germany. Pat Read has put the book together using over 2,000 surviving letters and numerous mementoes to give a touching portrait of a marriage so cruelly cut short. An interesting family and social history book. The book, a First Edition published in 1989 by Bloomsbury, is in very good condition. Price £6.00, UK P&P £3.50.
