PETERBOROUGH WAR MEMORIAL

First World War
Soldiers of 1914

The information below was collected from a series of updates that were printed in a local newspaper, the ‘Peterborough Advertiser,’ at the end of the First World War. The details were assembled from a number of sources including the men themselves, relatives and previous newspaper stories.

All of these Peterborough men were in the British armed forces and fighting in France or Belgium in 1914. More details of those that were killed can be found on the casuaty lists elsewhere on this site.

Probably more intresting are the men who survived the war, there would not normally be any information available regarding these soldiers and in some cases there is very little even here. However, there are some interesting details to be found below relating to survivors, and I suppose to a researcher, any small piece of information that was not available previously is always very welcome.
